Job Summary
Regional Yard Manager is responsible for the overall management of Yard Operations within a specified geographic region, focusing on safety, Western States’ experience, logistics, maintenance, organization, and economic efficiency. Travel up to 80% of the time to lead yard activities, train new employees in equipment operation and logistics, and cover absences for yard staff. This hands-on role drives efficient yard management to maintain clean, orderly, and well-kept facilities. Leadership includes supervising the yard team, assigning tasks, evaluating performance, and ensuring effective communication with departments. The role also manages day-to-day logistics documentation for receiving, staging, and shipping equipment, utilizes inventory software to report on equipment availability and conditions, trains employees on safe operating procedures, and supports procurement and sustainability efforts. The position requires strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills, knowledge of safety and environmental regulations, and the ability to travel up to 80% including weekends/overnights.
Required Qualifications
- Proof of high school diploma or GED
- Minimum two years’ operating or certification in heavy equipment, required
- Minimum one-year training or supervisory experience, required
- Minimum two years’ inventory and logistics or maintenance experience, preferred
- Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record required
- Must be able to communicate in English
