Regional Wound Care Nurse - IL

Job Summary

Assess, stage, and manage complex wounds including pressure injuries, surgical wounds, and chronic ulcers across multiple Illinois sites while ensuring compliance with federal and organizational standards. Deliver in-person and virtual training to nursing staff and interdisciplinary teams, developing education materials and coaching clinical personnel to improve documentation and outcomes. Standardize regional protocols, monitor wound care metrics, and lead quality improvement initiatives to reduce wound prevalence and support survey readiness. Travel regularly to support facilities and act as a liaison between corporate leadership and local teams. This 1099 Consultant role requires extensive travel and independent schedule management within a growing regional footprint focused on wound care excellence.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
  • Minimum 3–5 years of wound care experience
  • Strong working knowledge of wound care products, treatments, and regulatory requirements
  • Proven experience in staff education, training, and clinical program development
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage a regional schedule effectively
  • Proficiency in EMR systems and clinical documentation
  • Ability to travel extensively by car and/or air
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform clinical assessments for extended periods
  • Occasional lifting and repositioning of patients as required

Desired Qualifications

  • Wound Care Certification preferred (e.g., WCC, CWCN, CWON)
