Job Summary
Regional Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) responsible for evaluating students and delivering direct and/or indirect speech-language therapy across Spectrum School locations in California. Developing and implementing individualized therapy plans, setting collaborative goals with families and educators, monitoring progress with data-driven assessments, and documenting therapy sessions. Provides direct therapy to support articulation, language development, cognition, and communication in age-appropriate environments; maintains records and ensures compliance with Spectrum policies and state regulations; travels between assigned Spectrum School locations and may require occasional overnight travel; collaborates with teachers, caregivers, and related service providers to integrate goals into daily routines; participates in onsite multidisciplinary meetings, regional conferences, and supervision to support program quality; mentors educators and staff, supports intake and comprehensive assessments, and contributes to continuous program improvement. Aims to empower students to achieve communication goals while upholding clinical best practices and professional growth within a multi-site educational setting.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree or higher in speech pathology or a closely related field of study
- Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining a speech language pathology (SLP) credential
- Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining a CA state special education instruction credential preferred
- Hold currently or have the ability to obtain a valid CA state driver’s license
- Ability to obtain and maintain certification in company approved crisis management training
- Prior experience and/or knowledge in providing speech therapy instruction, guidance and/or support to children, preferably in an alternative, special education and/or behavioral health program setting
- Well-versed in special education services and compliance, effective teaching strategies, classroom management systems, data-based decision making, and working with children with IEPs
- Highly skilled in working with children with learning disabilities, emotional behavioral disorders, autism spectrum disorders and/or other related disabilities
- Proficiency in providing motivation and having critical conversations with students that help move them toward realistic goals
- Highly skilled in building relationships with students, parents, teachers and community and/or district partners
- Advanced oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving, and decision-making ability
- Knowledge of relevant technology including experience with instructional technology, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry and basic office equipment
