Job Summary
Regional Protection Field Officer responsible for planning, implementing and monitoring protection objectives (Detention, Protection of Civilian Population, and/or Protection of Family Links) in Djibouti, Kenya and Tanzania; serves as legal focal point for protection objectives and activities; supports dissemination and training on IHL/IHRL, provides legal analysis for PFL activities, contributes to detention-related regulatory reviews, translates official documents and provides interpretation during trainings and visits; supports data protection efforts and drafts/ reviews Data Sharing Agreements; represents ICRC protection activities with authorities, UN agencies, and NGOs; builds relationships with protection actors to advance humanitarian objectives; requires LLB, 3-5 years in protection/rights law, and strong negotiation/communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognized university
- Minimum 3-5 years’ work experience in a similar field in a dynamic environment
- Minimum 2 years of experience in International Human Rights Law and/or International Humanitarian Law
- Previous working experience with International Organizations is an asset
- Able to develop and sustain a network of key contacts
- Good negotiation and communications skills
