Job Summary
Cultivate, solicit, and steward planned gifts including wills, charitable trusts, and gift annuities to fund the Mission of The Salvation Army. Conduct personal visits to consult with donors and prospects on estate planning, while maintaining strong relationships with advisors and responding to inquiries from staff and officers. Educate advisory boards on success stories and strategies, and attend conferences to maintain current knowledge of giving practices and legislation. Travel frequently within Central Maryland, the Eastern Shore, Western Maryland, and the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, with up to 60% of work time spent on the road, including occasional overnight trips and meetings at headquarters in Alexandria.
Required Qualifications
- Three years' experience achieving results in the fundraising field
- Experience actively developing, cultivating, stewarding, and managing a portfolio of donors (or prospects)
- Demonstrated ability and experience building strong relationships with individual clients
- Valid State Driver's License
- Bona-fide Occupational Qualification (BFOQ)
- This position requires an active Christian faith in harmony with Salvation Army doctrine and practice
- Candidates should recognize that The Salvation Army is a Church and agree that they will do nothing as an employee of The Salvation Army to undermine its religious mission
- Ability to lift objects weighing between 25-50 lbs
- Ability to travel throughout the Division, by automobile, on a regular basis
- Travel requirements may be up to 60% of work time
- Ideal candidate resides in the Baltimore, Maryland area
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (preferred, but not required)
