Job Summary

Provide strategic leadership for assigned Child Development Centers to ensure high-quality program implementation and organizational alignment. Recruit, supervise, coach, mentor, and evaluate Center Managers while building leadership capacity through reflective supervision and performance management. Ensure centers maintain compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, Community Care Licensing, Title 5, Title 22, and Early Learning for All requirements by monitoring operations, coordinating audits, and developing corrective action plans. Monitor key functions including staffing, enrollment, budget performance, and facility projects to ensure efficient resource allocation. Support Family Engagement initiatives, resolve conflicts, and represent the organization in regional and statewide collaborative networks. Analyze program data to identify trends and guide continuous quality improvement efforts.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree within Early Childhood Education / Child Development
  • A valid Child Development Program Director Permit
  • A minimum of (8) eight years of successful supervisory experience in and early childhood program
  • Experience supervising multiple program sites and developing leadership teams
  • Experience implementing Head Start, CDE, Community Care Licensing, and Early Learning for All requirements
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating adult learning and professional development
  • Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse children, families, and staff
  • Extensive knowledge of Early childhood education systems, Child development, Head Start Performance Standards, Community Care Licensing, Title 5 and Title 22 regulations, Early Learning for All (ELFA), ERSEA requirements
  • Strong instructional leadership and coaching skills
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, project management, and strategic planning skills
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, mentor, and lead diverse teams
  • Strong conflict resolution, facilitation, and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high-quality program operations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, ChildPlus, and other organizational data systems
  • Regular travel between Child Development Centers, administrative offices, community meetings, and partner agencies throughout San Francisco
  • Ability to work effectively in classrooms, professional office settings, and community-based environments
  • Frequently use computers and technology systems for extended periods
  • Ability to observe classroom environments, coach leaders, and participate in program monitoring activities
  • Occasionally lift, carry, or transport materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Strong analytical thinking, organizational planning, leadership, and strategic problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple sites, competing priorities, regulatory timelines, staffing needs, and operational initiatives simultaneously

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Early Childhood preferred
