Job Summary
Provide strategic leadership for HS&E by shaping strategy, standards, and roadmaps, then translate them into executable plans aligned with business objectives across a matrix organization. Partner with senior management to align priorities with operational and commercial goals, ensuring consistent execution in Canada, USA, and international jurisdictions. Ensure compliant implementation of HSE policies, systems, and programs with a focus on proactive risk identification and management. Lead audit programs, analyze trends, drive corrective actions, and oversee emergency and crisis management frameworks while fostering a culture of care through visible leadership and site engagement. Coach and develop HSE teams to ensure strong performance and effective succession planning across the services portfolio. Act as a trusted advisor to leaders on complex risks and change initiatives, influencing sound decision-making. Monitor and evaluate performance using KPIs and data insights to identify gaps and improvement opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of Health and Safety experience
- Must have excellent knowledge of federal, provincial and local environmental and occupational health legislation and regulations
- Must be able to delegate and influence others to follow safety rules and regulations
- Demonstrated effective leadership skills
- Able to remain positive and adapt to frequent change in the workplace, including delays and/or unexpected events
- Strong communication skills to engage, motivate and lead employees
- Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
- Business acumen to understand and interpret associated KPIs related to company and department performance
- Excellent organizational, prioritization and time management skills
Desired Qualifications
- University degree or college diploma or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field is preferred
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) (or in the process of obtaining) is preferred
- Experience in international health, safety and environment legislations or regulations is an asset
