Job Summary
Lead and grow a civil engineering regional office/branch practice within a consulting environment, executing strategic business plans tied to client growth, project delivery, and financial performance. Build trusted relationships with municipal agencies, developers, utilities, and allied AEC partners; strengthen backlog through proposals, SOQs, RFPs, RFQs, and referral networks; oversee project delivery, QA/QC, risk management, and margins; manage workload, staffing, recruitment, succession planning, and cross-discipline collaboration; mentor project managers, engineers, designers, and emerging leaders while maintaining accountability and team trust. Collaborate with executive leadership on forecasts, hiring plans, organizational health, and operational priorities; represent the firm in associations and community development conversations. Required qualifications include a B.S. in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, Geomatics, or related field; PE licensure (California may be required for CA opportunities); 8+ years of progressive civil engineering consulting experience with leadership responsibility; strong communication and project management judgment; proficiency with MS Office and ERP systems (Deltek/Unanet).
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, Geomatics, or a closely related field
- PE licensure required for most civil engineering branch leadership roles (California PE may be required for CA opportunities)
- 8+ years of progressive civil engineering consulting experience with office/group/branch/practice leadership
- Experience with municipal infrastructure, public works, land development, water/wastewater, stormwater, transportation, survey, construction management or related civil engineering markets
- Strong leadership, mentorship, and staff development abilities
- Financial acumen including revenue, backlog, utilization, margin, budgeting, forecasting, and DSO/collections
- Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with Deltek or Unanet or similar ERP systems
- Valid driver’s license and ability to attend client meetings, site visits, and industry events
