Job Summary

Regional leadership role accountable for leading and growing a civil engineering branch, office, group, or regional practice within a consulting environment. Responsibilities include executing a strategic business plan tied to client growth, project delivery, workforce expansion, and financial performance; building trusted relationships with municipal agencies, developers, utilities, and allied AEC partners; strengthening backlog through repeat client work, proposals, SOQ/RFP/RFQ directions, and referral networks; overseeing PM performance, QA/QC, risk management, client satisfaction, and margin; managing workload, resource planning, recruitment, succession planning, and cross-office collaboration; guiding multidisciplinary teams across civil, water, wastewater, stormwater, transportation, survey, environmental, and construction phase services; mentoring project managers, engineers, designers, and emerging leaders; collaborating with leadership on forecasts, hiring plans, and organizational health, and representing the firm at associations, civic groups, industry events, and client meetings. Key skills include strategic business planning, client development, project delivery, financial stewardship, communication, leadership, and risk management.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, Geomatics, or a closely related field
  • PE is required for most civil engineering branch leadership roles
  • 8 plus years of progressive civil engineering consulting experience
  • Experience with municipal infrastructure, public works, land development, water, wastewater, stormwater, transportation, survey, construction management, or related civil engineering markets
  • Strong leadership and mentoring ability
  • Financial acumen with revenue, backlog, utilization, margin, fee proposals, work in progress, write-offs, accounts receivable, DSO/collections, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Proven ability to hire, mentor, retain, coach, and develop technical staff
  • MS Office (Excel); familiarity with Deltek/Unanet or similar ERP programs
