Job Summary
Identify and cultivate partnerships with local faith communities, businesses, and civic organizations across Eastern Oregon to support vulnerable children and families impacted by foster care. Lead grassroots outreach for resource parent and respite provider recruitment while facilitating regional task forces and developing shared action plans based on gap analysis. Execute trauma-informed program capacity building with the Every Child Service Center and identify host sites for community initiatives like Foster Parents Night Out. This full-time, 18-month temporary role requires living in and actively engaging with Eastern Oregon communities, including Umatilla, Morrow, Malheur, Grant, Harney, and surrounding counties. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and reliable access to a personal vehicle for regular regional travel and in-person meetings. Core hours are 9-2 pm PST, with a preference for applicants residing in Baker City, La Grande, Ontario, Pendleton, or Hermiston.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years' experience and/or background in Community Development, Public Policy, Communications, Public Relations, Sociology
- Lived experience in Eastern Oregon and a deep understanding of rural culture, motivations, and ethos
- Experienced community organizer
- Established local networks and credibility across multiple sectors (faith, business, nonprofit)
- Strong relationship builder, connector, and networker
- Proven ability to execute, not just plan or convene
- Experience in nonprofit or community-based work, including: Program implementation, Convening stakeholders, Creating, managing, and sustaining partnerships
- Experience in successfully working with a diverse group of constituents utilizing multi-cultural intelligence
- Excellent communicator with strong written, verbal, and public speaking skills who is experienced in engaging with diverse audiences
- Ability to utilize intentional listening, appreciation, and respect to engage with a diverse group of constituents
- Experience in successfully working with a diverse group of cultures and socio-economic
- Demonstrate strong social and emotional intelligence, tailoring messaging to different audiences, including Faith communities, business leaders, nonprofit partners
- Communicate with nuance, clarity, and respect for local values and motivations
- Use a both/and approach, balancing diverse perspectives while maintaining alignment with organizational values
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain current automobile insurance
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must live in and be actively engaged in Eastern Oregon communities
- Must have reliable access to a personal vehicle for regular travel throughout the region
