Job Summary
Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the manufacturing plant's refrigeration system, boiler system, air compressors, and hot water system by performing preventative maintenance, conducting inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs. Maintain HOWDEN, SULLAIR, & MYCOM ammonia compressors, condensers, valve stations, heat exchangers, pump packages, liquid ammonia pumps, air units, refrigeration PLCs, and control components in the best operating condition to meet Food Industry Standards. Assure all safety precautions and health hazards with ammonia are followed per Tyson requirements while ensuring compliance with state, federal, and local agencies including OSHA and the EPA. Participate as an Emergency Response Team Member and complete required training for ammonia systems, SCBA certification, and IIAR modules. Work 8-12 hour days in a cold, damp to hot environment, lifting 50 pounds or more.
Required Qualifications
- 1 - year industrial maintenance/electrical training
- 1 year of ammonia refrigeration or HVAC operator experience
- Have the ability to understand and follow specific verbal and written instructions and procedures
- Have effective communications skills, including specification/technical writing skills
- Are familiar with preventative maintenance programs
- Can complete all required training for the job
- Have experience working with Anhydrous Ammonia systems, including mechanical & electrical repairs
- ARE able to obtain SCBA certification and use fully encapsulated chemical suit in emergency
- ARE able to travel and attend training (1-2 trips per year)
- ARE able to pass IIAR Training modules for ammonia refrigeration
- Have PSM experience
- Must be willing and able to lift and carry 50 pounds or more
- Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation
