Job Summary
Operate and maintain ammonia screw compressor packages, evaporators, condensers, and boilers to ensure proper food temperatures and processing efficiency. Perform routine preventative maintenance, make repairs as required, and conduct chemical testing to prevent equipment scaling. Monitor ammonia vessels and liquid pumps to supply adequate refrigerant and oil while adhering to USDA and company standards. Log information, process work orders, and complete documentation using the Computerized Maintenance Management System. Work the 3rd shift in Claryville, Alexandria, KY, lifting up to 70 lbs occasionally and standing for up to 12 hours. Requires enrollment in an Ammonia Refrigeration Maintenance Program or one year of relevant experience.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an Ammonia Refrigeration Maintenance Program (proof of enrollment is required)
- One year of experience working in Ammonia Refrigeration Maintenance
- One year of classroom training from a Technical College (proof of training is required with a passing grade)
- Graduated from a technical college with a certification in Ammonia Refrigeration Maintenance
- One year of HVAC experience
- Must be flexible regarding work hours & schedule
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Proficiency in reading and writing
- Ability to complete on-the-job paperwork
- Ability to effectively communicate across all management levels
- Basic math skills: percentages, fractions, and measurements
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 70 lbs. occasionally
- Ability to lift to 10 lbs. frequently
- Ability to stand on hard surfaces for up to 12 hours per day
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Ability to walk, climb, bend and stoop
- Ability to perform repetitive gripping, pushing, and pulling
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to learn and utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
