Job Summary
Refrigeration and Equipment Maintenance Technician needed to maintain, repair, calibrate, and install refrigeration systems and scientific instrumentation used in medical research. Responsibilities include inspecting and servicing electronic and electromechanical equipment, using service manuals and schematics, performing preventive maintenance and calibrations, identifying and replacing faulty circuitry, coordinating with vendors for parts, consulting with research staff for safe and effective operation, maintaining time/materials records and reporting, logging maintenance activities and testing, providing guidance on installation and upgrades, assisting in cost estimates/specifications for new equipment, and participating in an on-call rotation to respond to cold-storage alerts and emergencies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education and experience
- Knowledge of circuit boards, electronic equipment, processors, chips, and instrumentation
- Knowledge of refrigeration systems and a solid understanding of refrigeration theory of operation
- Basic knowledge of operating computers and applicable computer software
- Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, the metric system, and their applications
- Basic knowledge of scientific laboratory safety practices
