Job Summary
Assist shop foremen with the operation and maintenance of electric, steam turbine centrifugal refrigeration equipment, pumps, cooling towers, HVAC systems, and fire alarm systems. Perform repairs, testing, installation, and upkeep of pumping equipment using hand and testing tools. Maintain daily logs, documentation, and inventory records while ordering supplies to ensure adequate stock for operations. Operate and maintain chiller plant control systems and standpipe/sprinkler systems in compliance with NYU Langone Medical Center requirements. Obtain FDNY certificates of fitness for standpipe, sprinkler, and bulk gas storage systems within the probationary period.
Required Qualifications
- HSD, GED, trade or vocational school graduation
- 2 years working experience in trade/hospital/research/school environment
- NYC FDNY refrigeration operators license (Q-01)
- FDNY Certificate of Fitness Standpipe and Sprinkler Systems (F- 10 and F-18, respectively)
- FDNY Certificate of Fitness Bulk Gas Storage (G-17)
- FDNY Certificate of Fitness for Fire and Life Safety Certification (F-89)
- New York State DEC Pesticide Applicator License
- NYC Refigeration Engr Lic
- Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with electric and centrifugal refrigeration equipment, absorption refrigeration equipment, pumps, cooling towers, HVAC systems, chiller plant control systems, standpipe, sprinklers systems and fire alarm systems in a similar size facility
