Refrigeration Design Engineer

Job Summary
Design full field-erected refrigeration systems, including pipe sizing, layout, and equipment selection for supermarket new builds, remodels, and capital maintenance projects. Prepare piping plans, equipment schedules, and installation specifications using AutoCAD and Excel, while coordinating with manufacturers on customized systems. Perform field inspections and assessments of existing equipment to recommend maintenance, modification, or replacement. Assemble bid document packages, solicit quotes, and issue requisitions for refrigeration equipment. Develop phasing plans to coordinate installations with overall project schedules and assist with conformance inspections. Requires 3+ years HVACR experience, Bachelor's in mechanical engineering, and 10-20% travel.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years' experience in HVACR, construction or engineering design services industry
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
- AutoCAD
- Microsoft Excel
- Experience reviewing refrigeration systems, cycles and controls related to commercial or industrial refrigerants (including R744 - Co2)
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to travel 10-20% (overnight travel required)
