Refrigeration Boiler Technician

Job Summary
Operate and perform maintenance on boiler condensate return systems, feed water systems, and chemical injection equipment while installing and repairing industrial refrigeration, ammonia, HVAC, and building utilities. Diagnose system malfunctions using root cause analysis, adjust valves and controls to regulate fluid, pressure, and temperature, and replace defective parts within Process Safety Management protocols. Ensure USDA regulatory compliance, maintain KPIs for continuous improvement, and strictly adhere to safety procedures including lockout-tagout and PPE requirements. Requires understanding of ammonia hazards and proficiency with CMMS databases.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree from two-year college or technical school in mechanical and/or electrical field
- Equivalent related experience
- RETA certificate
- Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook
- Word Processing software
- Process Safety Management (PSM)
- Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) Database software
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to internal and external customers
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- Regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel
- Frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms
- Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
