Job Summary

Diagnose and repair complex machinery, conduct preventive maintenance, and ensure production efficiency on industrial ammonia refrigeration and utilities systems. Respond to equipment breakdowns, perform system start-ups and shutdowns, and collaborate with production associates to solve reliability issues. Recognize and report unusual mechanical or electrical situations while adhering to all safety standards and quality protocols. Maintain work records and prepare clear oral and written reports. Achieve and maintain Refrigeration/Utilities Technician III proficiency within 10 months of hire. Wednesday through Saturday, 6:00 PM - 6:15 AM. Eligible for a $7,000 hiring bonus payable in installments over the first 12 months.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5-8 Years experience in Industrial maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on Mechanical and Electrical Equipment
  • Equivalent Military Experience
  • Expert proficiency in Hydraulics, Mechanics, Electrical concepts, and refrigeration/utilities systems
  • Intermediate Proficiency with PLC
  • Commitment to Continuous Learning to achieve increasing levels of expertise
  • High proficiency in computers and web-based applications
  • Safety and Hazard Training (OSHA Hazardous Material Technician)
  • RETA Operator Lvl I/CARO & RETA Operator Lvl II/CIRO Certification
  • Perdue Farms QEW Certification
  • Must be able to pass a physical test
  • Must be able to pass a pulmonary test
  • Must be able to pass a SCBA fit test
  • Must meet the requirements of a HAZMAT Team Member annually
  • Must be able to access files, supplies, and equipment
  • Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company
  • Must be able to comply with all federal, state and company safety requirements related to ammonia, confined space training, i.e., CPR/FA
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Must be able to work in wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces
  • Must be able to work in temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity
  • Must be able to handle products from 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Must be able to work in noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db
  • Must be able to work in an environment exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, and a processing plant
  • Must be able to move to other offices or buildings occasionally
  • Must be able to travel to nearby locations
  • Must be able to work Wednesday through Saturday, 6:00PM - 6:15 AM
  • Must be able to demonstrate /achieve and maintain Refrigeration/Utilities Technician III proficiency within 10 months of hire
  • Must be able to diagnose and repair complex machinery

  • Must be able to conduct Refrigeration/Utilities Technicians in routes, maintenance as well as industrial ammonia refrigeration system start-ups or shutdowns

  • Must be able to understand and follow all safety standards and quality protocols
  • Must be able to collaborate well with production or maintenance associates to solve problems with reliability within refrigeration/utilities systems with urgency
  • Must be able to recognize and report unusual, inefficient, or dangerous mechanical, electrical, industrial ammonia refrigeration or utilities situations
  • Must be able to utilize appropriate safety precautions, methods, and apparatuses to minimize and withstand exposure to chemicals, dust and mechanical and electrical hazards
  • Must be able to learn and observe all safety precautions as required by Perdue
  • Must be able to maintain work records and prepare clear and concise oral and written reports
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Must be able to work all required work schedules
  • Must be able to operate and maintain industrial ammonia refrigeration and utilities systems
  • Must be able to troubleshoot, optimize system performance, and drive continuous improvement across utilities processes

Desired Qualifications

  • 2-yr Technical Degree in Engineering or Industrial Maintenance
  • Other Certifications (i.e. Steam Boiler Operations, Steam Boiler Safety, or PdM Certifications)
