Job Summary
Line, reline, and repair furnaces, ladles, and tundishes using bricklaying equipment, gunite, pouring, ramming, and ceramic fiber methods. Interpret refractory lining drawings, perform plug changes and slide gate repairs, and teach installation procedures to team members. Assist with cleaning and preparing units for fabrication, conduct post-mortem tear-outs, and document findings. Maintain tools and equipment, perform inventory counts, and ensure compliance with safety standards, 5'S protocols, and facility policies. Work customer-facing at site locations, adhering to strict physical demands and environmental conditions.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to safely use brick saw and bricklaying equipment to lay brick
- Requires working knowledge of refractory lined units
- Ability to safely operate a jib crane and ensure the rigging of the load is correct
- Ability to safely operate a forklift
- Ability to safely operate various hand and electrical tools
- Ability to read, understand and work in conformity with work orders, as directed
- Ability to detect and correct unsafe or hazardous conditions of equipment and work environment
- Organized individual with emphasis on quality
- Requires fundamental computer skills
- Ability to work in very loud conditions (over 85 decibels)
- Ability to work near moving mechanical parts
- Ability to be exposed to fumes, airborne particles and outdoor weather conditions
- Ability to work in wet or humid conditions
- Ability to work in extreme heat or cold
- Ability to be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals
- Ability to work in high places
- Ability to be at risk of electrical shock
- Ability to work near vibration
- Ability to wear respirators, hearing protection, and/or other safety equipment
- Ability to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, speak, hear, or smell for more than 2/3 of the time
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds more than 2/3 of the time
