Refractory Technician

Job Summary
Conduct refractory lining, relining, and repair work on furnaces, ladles, and tundishes at customer sites using bricklaying equipment and gunite methods. Interpret lining drawings, perform plug changes and slide gate repairs, and assist with equipment preparation and post-mortem tear-outs. Maintain tool and spare parts inventory, document findings, and ensure compliance with safety standards and 5'S protocols. Requires high school diploma, ability to lift 75 pounds, and operation of jib cranes and forklifts. Located at customer sites with physical demands including standing, walking, and exposure to fumes and extreme temperatures.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to safely use brick saw and bricklaying equipment to lay brick
- Working knowledge of refractory lined units
- Ability to safely operate a jib crane and ensure the rigging of the load is correct
- Ability to safely operate a forklift
- Ability to safely operate various hand and electrical tools
- Ability to read, understand and work in conformity with work orders, as directed
- Ability to detect and correct unsafe or hazardous conditions of equipment and work environment
- Organized individual with emphasis on quality
- Fundamental computer skills
- Experience in excel
