Job Summary
Be the point of contact for patients regarding prescription medication refill needs, processing requests through providers, patients, or pharmacies. Obtain prior authorizations from insurance companies and coordinate pharmaceutical representatives for drug samples and patient assistance. Promote River Valley services including the pharmacy and 340B program while delivering health education on correct medication use and follow-up appointments. Provide compassionate support to patients and families. This full-time role involves 40 hours per week at our Montrose, Colorado clinic.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Active LPN or Pharmacy Technician certification
- Ability to obtain a Provisional Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification prior to hire with a full and active certification within 18 months of hire
- BLS certification
- Ability to travel between clinics as needed
- Ability to maintain positive working relationships with team members, patients, families, and others
- Ability to utilize a computer for time keeping, documenting electronic medical records, and to complete follow-up tasks
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- This position requires long periods of standing and walking, sitting at a computer, the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 pounds, etc
- Employees are exposed to blood, body fluids, and other occupational hazards, and are required to complete mandatory vaccines, such as Tdap, Hep A, Hep B, MMR, Varicella, and the yearly flu vaccine
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of an approved educational program for Licensed Practical Nurses, Medical Assistant, or pharmacy technician program
- At least one year of experience in an ambulatory healthcare setting
