Job Summary
Referral Specialist I assists a clinical team with administrative components of referrals, initiates and manages referrals for pre-authorization, acts as liaison between hospitals, health plans, physicians, patients, and vendors, verifies insurance coverage, documents communications, and handles inbound calls for exam requests; requires HS diploma or GED with at least 1 year of experience in a high-volume call-center environment, strong communication skills in English and Spanish, ability to multitask in a hybrid in-office/remote setting, and familiarity with medical terminology and radiology imaging processes; job located in San Juan, PR with 1-2 days in-office per week and hybrid/virtual work arrangement.
Required Qualifications
- HS diploma or GED
- minimum 1 year of experience in a high-volume, interactive customer service or call center environment
- bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- ability to work hybrid schedule (in-office 1-2 days per week)
- ability to manage multiple tasks and use digital tools
- demonstrated empathy and problem-solving in caller interactions
