Job Summary
The Referral Specialist coordinates and processes patient referrals within the Med-Health clinics, handling non-urgent referrals, scheduling appointments, and acting as a liaison between patients and clinical support staff. Responsibilities include researching required information, resolving customer issues, ensuring timely completion of referrals, documenting encounters in the EMR, and communicating with management and insurance companies to support high-quality patient care. Requires a high school diploma or GED (medical assistant diploma preferred); 2+ years of medical knowledge preferred; bilingual a plus; current National Medical Assistant registration/certification preferred. Performs tasks with professionalism, maintains confidentiality, and collaborates with the referral management team to meet department workflows and quality standards. Flexible to support departmental needs and participate in continuing education.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduation or GED required
- 2+ years of professional medical knowledge in a practice setting is preferred
- Diploma from an accredited medical assist program preferred
- Current National Medical Assistant Registration/Certification preferred
- Ability to work on discrete tasks in a high volume, high-pressured environment
- Good judgment and professional demeanor
