Job Summary
Coordinate all incoming patient referrals to the orthopedic practice via electronic, faxed, telephone, and other sources, ensuring necessary documentation is obtained and appropriate providers are identified. Track referrals from receipt through scheduling to prevent care delays, follow up on missed contacts, and escalate trends in lost referrals to leadership. Serve as the primary contact for referring offices regarding status, scheduling, and required records, while assisting staff with phone operations and troubleshooting scheduling criteria. Participate in community outreach, including periodic visits to physician offices, to strengthen relationships and educate providers on services and processes. Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm. High school diploma required; orthopedic experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear
- Lifting limited to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and to 50 lbs. for non-clinical staff
- Must use an assisted-lift device or get another individual(s) to assist with the lift that is over these maximum limits
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in a physician practice, referral coordination, scheduling, medical office, patient access, or healthcare setting
- Orthopedic or specialty practice experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare referral processes
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and track a high volume of referrals
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong customer service and relationship-building skills
- Comfortable conducting outreach and meeting directly with referring physician offices
