Job Summary
Coordinate patient referral appointments by processing incoming referrals, prioritizing urgency levels, and scheduling visits while communicating details to patients and providers. Act as a liaison with insurance companies and specialist offices to verify coverage and gather necessary information. Assist patients with questions and resolve issues, ensuring all interactions comply with HIPAA confidentiality standards. Provide administrative support including answering calls, managing schedules, delivering faxes, and processing medical records into the EMR. Maintain accurate correspondence and track files in accordance with state and federal laws.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED, or equivalent knowledge and skills obtained through a combination of education, training, and experience
- Ability to provide high quality patient centered customer service
- Ability to communicate effectively with care providers and insurance companies
- Effectively manage stress
- Accurately perform detailed work, (i.e. plan, multitask, organize and prioritize work)
- Establish good employee relations including conflict resolution
- Intermediate computer skills - use of computer applications for Health Information systems, EMR, word processing and spreadsheets
- Discern and maintains confidentiality (i.e. HIPAA, proprietary information, etc.)
- Works as part of a team; model a positive work ethic and customer friendly relations
- Prioritize and multitask detailed projects with frequent interruptions
- Solve problems issues and concerns in a professional manner
- Comprehend and communicate information accurately and clearly (verbally and in writing, in person and via phone) with patients, all levels of personnel, and other individuals and groups
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
- Employees are required to meet immunization standards in accordance with federal, state, and organizational health and safety guidelines
Desired Qualifications
- Medical office experience preferred
- Medical terminology experience preferred
