Job Summary
The Referral Coordinator is responsible for arranging and scheduling patient referrals, managing incoming patient referrals, and ensuring timely communication with outside specialists. Key duties include scheduling appointments, maintaining documentation, providing information to patients, and acting as a point of contact for patients navigating the healthcare system. Candidates should have a high school diploma and ideally possess experience in a clinical setting. Strong communication, organizational skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office are essential.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience required
- Minimum of 1 year of experience processing referrals
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Time management skills and organizational skills
- Ability to communicate professionally and courteously
- Detail-oriented to ensure accuracy of reports and data
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite and basic phone and computer operation
- Ability to read, write and effectively communicate in English
Desired Qualifications
- Experience processing referrals as a Medical Assistant (MA) or similar clinical/front desk experience
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations
- Healthcare experience
- EMR system experience
