Job Summary
Oversee the Library's art and special collections by managing projects, serving as a liaison to community art schools, and facilitating visits and displays. Collaborate with Cataloging, Digital Services, and Conservation teams to ensure material access, determine treatment for exhibits and storage, and curate content on the Digital Library. Assist with collection development, valuation, acquisition, and de-selection while identifying rare materials in regular collections. Answer reference and readers' advisory questions via person, phone, and email; interpret policies for the public; present library services to individuals and groups; and circulate materials including processing holds and collecting fees. Requires a Master's in Library and Information Science, two years of experience with Arts & Special Collections, and a valid driver's license.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of library science
- Knowledge of Art and Cultural History, cultural artifacts, and historical contexts
- Skill in Special Collections management, including archival practices, preservation techniques, and rare book and item handling
- Skill in customer service
- Ability to work independently and with coworkers in a wide variety of situations with minimal supervision
- Ability to use all technology applicable to the essential functions of the job and commonly used by the Library
- Master's degree in Library and Information Science
- A driver's license
- A driving record acceptable to the Library's insurance provider
- Two or more years of relevant experience
- Experience with Arts & Special Collections
