Job Summary
Operate a standard tanker-type truck safely, conducting pre-trip inspections of tires, lights, brakes, and fluids. Load and offload product while managing Department of Transportation paperwork, including freight weigh bills and fuel tickets. Drive without direct supervision, following company policies and making independent decisions on job sites. If assigned a service truck, oil, grease, and fuel equipment to ensure crews have necessary supplies. Assist with additional field tasks as needed while maintaining a clean MVR and adhering to all DOT regulations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- 1-2 years of related experience and/or training
- Valid Class B CDL Driver's License with Tanker and HazMat endorsements and a clean MVR
- Must meet all DOT requirements for CDL drivers, including the DOT physical exam
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 60 pounds
- Employees must have 20/40 vision, either naturally or with corrective lenses
- Hearing should be excellent or corrected by audio device
- Must be able to operate a standard tanker-type truck along with loading and offloading product safely
- Must have skills to conduct pre-trip inspection checklist on equipment such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water
- Must be able to handle paperwork concerning Department of Transportation regulations, freight weigh bills, fuel tickets and load tickets
- Must be able to carry out detailed instructions, take directions to job sites, but also must be able to use good judgement in decision-making and be able to work without direct supervision
- Must have the ability to operate the vehicle safely in traffic situations and follow the policies and procedures of the company
- Must ensure all activities are performed within the company's safety policies and procedures
- Must be able to oil, grease and fuel trucks and equipment
- Must ensure that crews have water, oil and fuel for equipment on the job at all times
- Must be able to complete field services and participate in other activities expected of a construction crew
- Must be able/willing assist with additional tasks as necessary
