Job Summary
Redress Advocate supports clients via telephone advocacy to navigate the National Redress Program, provide information on rights/options including counselling and legal advice, assist with program applications, and advocate to ensure client needs are met. The role involves engaging with the National Redress Scheme and legal services, and includes public speaking and presentations to the public and other services. Remote-first role based anywhere in Australia with travel to Sydney for annual staff conference and occasional team days; 12-month fixed-term contract with potential extension. Requires advocacy experience, disability rights understanding, trauma-informed and culturally competent practice, strong communication and client management skills, and ability to work with confidential client information using a management system.
Required Qualifications
- Full-time remote advocacy role with National Redress Scheme experience preferred
- Experience in advocacy, trauma-informed practice, disability rights, and working with survivors of trauma/abuse
- Strong communication skills and empathy
- Experience navigating complex processes and applications
- Ability to travel for annual staff conference and team days
- Private home workspace suitable for confidential work
- Remote work with Australia-wide eligibility
- 12-month fixed-term contract with potential extension
