Job Summary
Assist in campus-wide recycling and solid waste operations, including lifting and emptying heavy containers up to 50 pounds, processing materials, and cleaning and disinfecting vehicles and collection areas. Operate bailers, forklifts, or pallet jacks, drive unit vehicles to disposal stations, and remove contaminants while maintaining clean, organized work zones with proper signage. Support the department with snow removal operations as needed. This full-time role requires a DOT Health Certificate, two years of general labor experience, and a valid driver's license from Maryland, DC, or Virginia.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma
- Department of Transportation Health Certificate (DOT)
- Two years of experience performing general labor or manual work
- Experience directly related to recycling and solid waste management
- Medical card and/or certificate issued by the Department of Transportation (DOT)
- Valid driver's license from Maryland, District of Columbia or Virginia
- Ability to lift and empty heavy containers up to 50 pounds
- Ability to operate University commercial vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating of 26K pounds maximum
- Ability to operate bailers, forklifts, or pallet jacks
- Ability to drive unit vehicles to designated disposal stations
- Ability to remove contaminants and maintain a clean work area
- Ability to ensure disposal areas are clean, organized, fully functional with proper signage and operational
- Ability to support the department with snow removal operations as needed
- Ability to work cooperatively with fellow employees
