Recycling Collection & Sorting Manager Mexico

Job Summary
Lead the implementation of the Collection & Sorting strategy for the Mexican market. Develop self-sustainable collection and recycling programs for post-consumer carton packages via trade organizations or in partnership with customers; analyze market competitiveness of packaging formats; map the collection and sorting value chain in Mexico; deploy action plans with Corporate Affairs to ensure level playing field for all packaging formats; manage project lifecycle from business case through installation and performance reporting; engage with municipalities, associations, and governmental bodies to align with Extended Producer Responsibility and Circular Economy regulations; oversee audits and reporting of collection/recycling rates; travel up to 50% to plants and meetings; preferred based in Mexico City with office in Polanco; note that the company does not sponsor work visas or relocation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or Environmental Engineering or similar (master’s degree or post-graduate studies in collection and sorting of packaging waste preferred)
- MBA highly recommended
- Minimum 7-8 years’ experience in waste management sector, especially collection and sorting of beverage containers
- Experience interacting with municipalities and the solid waste industry
- Deep knowledge of solid waste management and EPR/Circular Economy regulations, especially in Mexico
- Proven experience in collection and sorting projects (experience at MRFs or waste management companies)
- Proven knowledge of EPR regulations (material flow analysis, ecofees)
- MS Office proficiency (PowerPoint presentations; pivot tables in Excel; dashboards)
- Knowledge of LCAs and ability to discuss technical topics
- PowerBI capabilities for reporting
- Change-management experience
- Ability to connect packaging regulatory impacts to business
- Strong English written and verbal skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work under pressure independently and in cross-functional teams
