Recreational Therapist - PRN

Job Summary
Therapeutic recreational and activity services for patients with emotional or substance use concerns, including development and implementation of treatment plans; conducts individual, family, and group therapies across art, music, yoga, drama, and adventure therapies; monitors progress and documents outcomes; collaborates with physicians, case managers, and nursing staff; maintains safety, infection control, and ethical standards; requires CPR and aggression-management training; strong communication, assessment, and organizational abilities; includes clinical and administrative duties and the ability to perform physical tasks (lift up to 50 lbs) as part of patient care; provides education and supports treatment across inpatient settings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., recreational, music, art therapy or occupational therapy) preferred
- Experience - a minimum of 1 year experience in a field relevant to the therapy specialty area or combination education and experience preferred
- Healthcare and inpatient psychiatric experience preferred
- Teaching or training experience a plus
- CPR certification and successful completion of Management of Aggressive Behavior training prior to assuming patient care responsibility
- Background check, drug screen, and physical clearance
- Excellent communication, assessment, evaluation, and interpretation skills
- Knowledge of psychiatric and addictive disease diagnoses and treatment; DSMIIIR methodology
- Must have basic PC skills (Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel) and typing 30+ wpm
- Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
