The Recreation Team Member facilitates planned and spontaneous opportunities to support the maintenance and development of resident skills and knowledge and the development of relationships and personal connections. Responsibilities include maintaining department records and documentation (Resident Assessments/Re-Assessments, Care Planning, MDS Coding/RAPs, Progress Notes, ActivityPro, monthly calendars), participating in ongoing evaluation of the recreation program and quality improvement processes, maintaining recreation supplies in accordance with infection control policies, and working a variety of shifts (days, evenings, weekends, statutory holidays). The role may involve travel within the province for education and meetings. Candidates should have a post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies or therapeutic recreation (or be enrolled in such a program with intent to complete within three years), and experience with recreation/ leisure services in a health care setting is an asset.
