Job Summary
Develop and oversee therapeutic recreation programs for residents by assessing their needs, organizing entertainment and exercise, and facilitating expression to meet psychological, social, and spiritual requirements. Provide leadership to the therapeutic recreation team and collaborate with interdisciplinary groups to guide program implementation. Create an inclusive environment that encourages resident participation while assisting families of impaired individuals in exploring appropriate hobbies and leisure activities. Evaluate program effectiveness and adjust strategies as needed. This role supports the Glastonbury Center for Health & Rehabilitation's mission to provide meaningful care to aging guests and their families.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in developing and leading therapeutic recreation programs
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Compassion and empathy in working with seniors
- Interest in the needs of the aged and the chronically ill with the ability to work with both
- Creative mindset with excellent organizational interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate with team members, residents, and families to create a positive and inclusive environment
Desired Qualifications
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) credential preferred
