Recreation Therapist - part time

Job Summary
Develop and implement group therapeutic recreation activities with children in the residential treatment program. Utilize predictive analytics data from Insight Generator to design activity interventions addressing identified needs. Respond to children's unsafe behaviors in a trauma-informed manner while regulating emotions during stressful situations. This part-time role involves 20 hours per week with some flexibility and weekend hours. The position reports to the Supervisor of Adjunctive Therapy within Gemma Services' Plymouth Meeting, PA facility, which provides education, nurturing, and healing for children, teens, and families through evidence-based services.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in recreation therapy, therapeutic recreation or a related field
- Proficient reading, writing, and grammar skills
- Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills
- Ability to respond to children's unsafe behaviors in a trauma-informed manner
- Ability to regulate own emotions and behaviors during frequent stressful situations
- Proficient PC skills
- Knowledge/understanding of applicable laws and regulations, i.e. PA Residential Regulations (3800) and PA Child Protective Services Law
- Knowledge of Emergency Safety Physical Intervention Procedures
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in recreation therapy
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist
- Two (2) years of related experience
