Job Summary
Recreation Specialist responsible for managing recreation/non-vocational activities for assigned students (ages 16-24) at the San Jose Job Corps Center. Duties include supervising and mentoring students, ensuring safety and high-quality customer service, organizing and leading recreation programs, coordinating with SGA/Student Government activities, training students on equipment use, conducting property and safety-related reports, and supporting HEALS and leadership initiatives. Requires an Associate’s degree or related youth-facing experience; Lifeguard certification, CPR/First Aid, valid California driver’s license, and CDL within 6 months; willingness to work a Wednesday–Saturday 11:30am–10:30pm schedule on a 4x10 onsite shift; may involve coaching, arts/performing arts activities, and leading larger trips with CDL as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Associates degree or one-year related experience working with youth
- Must obtain and maintain lifeguard certification
- A CDL bus driver’s license
- Experience as a coach, arts & crafts, performing arts
- Must obtain and maintain current CPR/First Aid Certification
- Must possess a valid State driver’s license
- Ability to obtain a CDL within 6 months of DOH
