Job Summary
Oversee daily operations of recreation facilities, programs, services, leagues, tournaments, and special events while managing budgets, funding opportunities, and reporting requirements. Lead the supervision of staff including Youth Recreation Facilitators and Attendants, handling hiring, performance evaluations, training, and attendance management. Develop and implement operational and strategic plans aligned with the Haisla Nation's Comprehensive Community Plan, ensuring culturally relevant service delivery through community engagement and partnerships with schools and municipalities. Represent the organization at regional networks and pursue new initiatives to expand services based on identified community needs.
Required Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Recreation Management, Sport Management, Community Development, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field
- 5–7 years of progressive leadership experience in recreation services, community services, sport management, facility operations, or related fields
- Experience managing recreation facilities, leagues, programs, events, and community partnerships
- Experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation
- Ability to set goals and implement an operational plan for the department
- Ability to provide leadership to direct reports and ongoing support for their performance and development
- Strong proficiency in using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills with an attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to professionally connect with and influence a diverse group of individuals
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead projects and work with diverse individuals to identify issues, design solutions, and evaluate results
- Knowledge of funding processes, including grant writing and reporting
- Experience in change management and organizational development
- Satisfactory completion of criminal records check (with vulnerable sector screening if relevant)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working for a band government or Indigenous organization is an asset
