Job Summary
Plan, lead, and support a variety of activities and events while working with a dedicated recreation team to deliver programs for people of all ages. Develop and administer youth programs, utilizing web-based tools like Rec Desk and Canva, while demonstrating knowledge of diverse sports rules. Maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public, communicating verbally and in writing to direct the work of others. This part-time role requires 20 hours per week, including evenings and weekends, with a starting hourly rate of $18.16. Candidates must be 18 or older, hold a high school diploma or GED, and possess CPR/AED/First Aid certification or the ability to obtain it within two weeks. A valid driver's license is required by hire date, and successful applicants must pass a background check and drug screening through the City of St. Helens and St. Helens School District.
Required Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older
- CPR/AED/First Aid certified (or ability to obtain within two weeks of hire date)
- Must have or be able to obtain a valid driver's license by hire date
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and other recreation related computer software
- Knowledge of web-based activity programs (Rec Desk, Canva, etc.)
- Knowledge of developing and administering youth programs
- Working knowledge of the rules of a variety of sports
- Ability to work under stressful situations
- Ability to stay calm
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and public
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
- Ability to direct the work of others
- Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening through the St. Helens School District as well as the City of St. Helens onboarding requirements
