Job Summary
Supervise, instruct, and implement age-appropriate activities for afterschool, school-out, and summer camp programs in a safe, engaging environment. Develop daily plans including homework help, games, and crafts while overseeing Program Instructor I and collaborating with Program Instructor III and the Recreation Programs Coordinator. Conduct mandatory sign-in and sign-out procedures, transport children in a 15-person passenger van, and maintain proper safety precautions to prevent accidents. Report any injuries to the supervisor and follow Colorado State School-aged licensing policies. This part-time year-round role requires verifiable experience with school-aged children (5-12 years old), a current CPR/AED/First Aid certification, and a valid Colorado driver's license.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge and interest of children and concern for their proper care and well-being
- Dependable, patient, creative, caring, requires minimal supervision and neat in appearance
- Ability to perform physical duties requiring a full range of body movements
- Ability to handle confidential issues appropriately
- Ability to follow directions and effectively communicate with children, Recreation Center staff, school officials and parents
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, handle emergency situations, and make sound decisions
- Minimum age of 18 years old
- Verifiable experience of at least three months full-time or equivalent part-time (460 contact hours), paid or volunteer experience working with school aged children (5-12 years old)
- Possession of a current CPR/AED/First Aid certification
- Valid State of Colorado Driver's License
