Job Summary
Performs indoor, outdoor, arts & crafts, educational, low organized programs and activities for youth 6-17 years of age. Oversees and maintains assigned facility and park, interacts with the general public, ensures safety of members, public and staff, maintains a high profile in the community, and supervises participants in recreation and education activities. May supervise others and serve as a lead worker providing direction. Responsibilities include preparing and organizing registrations, supplies and special events; maintaining facilities and monitoring safety; attending in-services and staff meetings; assisting in implementing Community Recreation Programs; assisting in team sports practices and tournaments; assisting in implementing special events; performing physical and manual work; planning and coordinating activities with supervisor and co-workers; preparing for and attending staff meetings; assisting other staff; implementing programs; knowledge of equipment operations and safety procedures; familiarizing with city rules, regulations and policies; and performing other duties as assigned. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred; pursuing high school diploma or GED; no experience required, with preference for some professional experience in Parks & Recreation.
Required Qualifications
- Current valid Class C driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety with a satisfactory driving record
- Required CPR/First Aid Certifications
- Must take and pass a pre-employment drug test administered by the City
- Subject to a complete background investigation
