Job Summary
Recreation Program Director leading development, planning, organizing, and directing activity/recreation programs for residents in a long-term care setting. Requires an active professional license (Art, Music, Dance, Recreation Therapist, Occupational Therapist) or a state-approved training course, plus 2+ years in social/recreational programming with at least 1 year in a mental health/behavioral health setting within the last five years. Responsibilities include designing programs aligned with assessments and residents' physical, mental, spiritual, and psychosocial well-being, ensuring compliance with state/federal guidelines, and adhering to company policies. Strong organizational, prioritization, and deadlines management skills, with English literacy and knowledge of relevant nursing and long-term care regulations. Desirable qualifications include a Bachelor's degree, additional certification in therapeutic recreation, and supervisory experience.
Required Qualifications
- Active and valid professional license in one of the following: Art Therapist, Music Therapist, Dance Therapist, Recreation Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, in the state where the facility operates OR completion of a state-approved training course
- 2+ years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last 5 years, including at least 1 year of full-time experience in a mental health/behavioral health setting
- English language proficiency sufficient to perform essential functions
- Knowledge of nursing practices, procedures, terminology, laws, regulations, and guidelines related to long-term care
