Job Summary
Oversee planning, coordination, and execution of city special events, community programs, and recreational activities. Lead a team of full-time and part-time staff and volunteers, and build relationships with athletic associations, civic groups, schools, and non-profit organizations. Facilitate the Recreation and Parks Advisory Committee, brief city leadership, and present updates to the City Council. Partner with the Facilities Division to coordinate programming with park maintenance and work with Communications to promote events.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Public Administration, or related field
- Seven years of experience in recreation with at least five years of supervisory experience (or equivalent education/experience)
- Proven track record managing major community events (3,000+ attendees)
- Experience managing budgets to ensure effective use of city resources
- Certification as a Park and Recreation Professional (preferred) or equivalent professional certification
- Ten years of progressively responsible experience in recreation and parks or related local government roles (preferred)
