Job Summary

Greet patrons, answer phones, and check in/out members while operating the registration system for program services and facility reservations. Manage cash handling duties by balancing drawers and processing transactions, then resolve customer concerns and complete incident reports as needed. Open and close facilities, assist with rentals for events, and provide direction to custodial staff during periodic building walk-throughs. This part-time role includes weekends and evenings under the supervision of a Recreation Member Service Supervisor.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year of customer service, receptionist and/or cash handling experience
  • Current First Aid/AED and CPR certifications within 90 days of hire
  • Have and maintain acceptable background information, including criminal conviction history
  • Ability to understand and trouble shoot accounting transactions in the registration system
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse people in an organizational context
  • Ability interest, and desire to provide excellent customer service in person and on the telephone
  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings
  • Knowledge of cash handling
  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities that permits the employee to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person
  • Sufficient vision or other powers of observation that permits the employee to review, evaluate and prepare a variety of written documents and materials
  • Sufficient manual dexterity that permits the employee to operate computer equipment and other office equipment
  • Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, which permits the employee to work in an office setting
  • Ability to work under stress from demanding deadlines, public contact, and changing priorities and conditions
  • Ability to lift a maximum of 10 pounds

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working for a public or private recreation facility
  • Experience with the Active registration system
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (Conversational level in Spanish)
