Job Summary
Plan, direct, and instruct recreational gymnastics classes across ability levels while coordinating special events and managing daily activity schedules. Monitor participant safety, remedying unsafe conditions and responding to emergencies, then assist coaches in training staff and correcting deficiencies. Engage prospective families through tours and community events to drive awareness and enrollments. Maintain facility cleanliness, organize equipment, and prepare records and reports. Manage high levels of liability by handling physically aggressive children and adhering to strict safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Three (3) years of experience in gymnastics, dance, tumbling, cheerleading and or coaching
- First-Aid and CPR certification
- Concussion training
- USA Gymnastics Recreational Coach Membership
- USA Gymnastics Safety and Risk Management Certification
- USA Gymnastics Safe Sport Certification
- USA Gymnastics Tough Coaching or Emotional Abuse Certification
- USA Gymnastics Fundamentals of Gymnastics Instruction Certification
- Knowledge of gymnastics movements, spotting, techniques, and terminology
- Knowledge of sports rules, regulations, and procedures
- Knowledge of supervision and training principles
- Knowledge of coaching principles and practices
- Knowledge of operations, services, and activities of City-wide recreation program
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices
- Skill to operate a variety of office equipment
- Skills to adapt to change and problem solve
- Skills to work personably with the public and other professionals in times of conflict or crisis
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Ability to interpret and explain City policies and procedures
- Ability to work independently in the absence of supervision
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Strong ability to motivate and manage children with and without developmental and/or behavioral concerns
- Ability to organize and supervise participants in a safe environment
- Must be able to stand for at least 4 hours consecutively
- Must be able to sit on the floor
- Must be able to lift to 50 pounds
- Must be able to maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception
- Must maintain physical condition necessary for operating assigned equipment
- Must maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of making sound decisions demonstrating intellectual capabilities
- Must be able to walk
- Must be able to kneel
- Must be able to repeated bending or sitting for prolonged periods of time
- Must be able to transfer and set up a variety of light to heavy supplies and equipment
Desired Qualifications
- Five (5) years of experience in gymnastics, dance, tumbling, cheerleading and or coaching
