Job Summary
Plan, develop, and oversee a comprehensive therapeutic recreation program, creating daily, weekly, and seasonal activity calendars that address residents' physical, cognitive, emotional, and social needs. Supervise, train, and mentor recreation staff and volunteers while coordinating special events, holiday celebrations, entertainers, community partnerships, and family programs. Complete resident assessments, care plans, progress notes, and required documentation to ensure compliance with NYS Department of Health and CMS regulations. Manage the department's budget, supplies, and scheduling within a warm, resident-focused atmosphere.
Required Qualifications
- CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist) certification required
- Thorough knowledge of state and federal regulations related to recreation services
Desired Qualifications
- Previous leadership experience as a Recreation Director or Activities Director in a skilled nursing facility or long-term care setting strongly preferred
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Passion for enhancing residents' quality of life through meaningful programming
