Job Summary
Develop, plan, and lead senior citizen programs while supervising program instructors and temporary staff. Coordinate events with community agencies, recruit volunteers, and manage facility rentals for meals and activities. Compile participant evaluations, prepare quarterly reports for the Park Advisory Board, and assist with annual budget monitoring. Recruit, train, and schedule seasonal employees as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Social work, or related field
- One year experience in community/public program management, senior activities planning, or related field
- Thorough knowledge of the social, economic and behavioral characteristics of senior citizens in the community
- Thorough knowledge of principles of staff supervision and training
- Ability to plan and supervise the work of subordinates
- Ability to prepare administrative and financial reports
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to prepare and maintain records
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with city and community officials, governmental agencies, program participants, media personnel and the general public
- Skills in using computer applications used by the Parks and Recreation department
- Experience in Microsoft Office Suite, InDesign, Sportsman Software and similar programs
- Frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force
- Occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force
