Job Summary
Organize and oversee patients, clients, or residents on outings while coordinating their transport to and from activities. Demonstrate recreation techniques, adapt activities for maximum independence per Recreation Therapist instructions, and provide functional direction to volunteers. Evaluate and report participant progress to the interdisciplinary team, organize activity furnishings, and maintain equipment inventory. May operate a bus with up to 25 passengers for community participation transport. Work within a team-based environment to carry out recreation programs in consultation with the Recreation Therapist.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized Recreation Diploma Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Valid Class 4 vehicle license (unrestricted)
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to teach
- Ability to organize work
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
- Ability to operate related equipment
- Ability to deal with others effectively
- Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check
