Recreation Assistant

Job Summary
Organize and oversee patients, clients, and residents on outings while coordinating their transport to and from activities. Demonstrate recreation techniques, carry out prescribed adaptations to maintain independence, and provide functional direction to volunteers. Evaluate and report progress observations to the Recreation Therapist or interdisciplinary team. Organize furnishings and equipment for designated activities, maintain inventory, and may operate a bus with up to 25 passengers for community participation. Complete a Criminal Records Review Check. This internal role supports the organization's mission of healthy lives in healthy communities within a team-based environment.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized Recreation Diploma Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Valid Class 4 vehicle license (unrestricted)
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to teach
- Ability to organize work
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
- Ability to operate related equipment
- Ability to deal with others effectively
- Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check
