Job Summary
Recreation Aide at AgeCare Lakeview is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating recreation programs for residents, assisting with activities and outings, supporting meal services as required, maintaining department records (assessments and participation), and collaborating with the Recreation Manager and Executive Director to deliver resident-centered recreation aligned with AgeCare policies. The role requires a college diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, or Gerontology (or equivalent), experience with seniors, strong communication skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office, a valid provincial driver's license to transport residents by van, and a current Vulnerable Sector Check or willingness to obtain one. The position involves working in a long-term care environment, maintaining ethical standards and contributing to the care team with energy, compassion, and teamwork.
Required Qualifications
- College diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Gerontology or equivalent is required
- Previous experience working with seniors
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Valid provincial driver's license to transport residents by van (i.e.: Class 4; Class F)
- Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one
