Job Summary

Provide safe, direct care to adults with serious mental illness in a 16-bed locked acute inpatient program, implementing service plans and Medicaid standards. Establish therapeutic relationships, monitor clients during rounds, and supervise seclusion, restraint, and smoke breaks. Document activities of daily living, vital signs, and behavior changes while assisting with hygiene, meals, and outings. Collect specimens, admit and discharge members, and implement behavior interventions using ABA principles under supervision. Maintain a hopeful attitude, participate in community groups, and mentor new staff. Maintain current CPR, First Aid, and CPI certifications, pass background checks, and complete required physicals. Shifts vary including on-call, AM/NOC/PM, and days as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D and two (2) years of experience in a psychiatric mental health setting
  • BA/BS with one (1) year experience in mental health setting
  • Knowledge of basic nursing skills and interventions
  • Knowledge of mental and physical health conditions and terminologies
  • Certification as a CNA or its equivalent
  • Proficient understanding of client advocacy and client rights as defined in Title 17 and Title 9
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2 years course work
  • 2 years training / experience
  • 2 years' lived experience
  • High school diploma or G.E.D and one (1) years of experience
  • previous work experience in other medical professions working with co-morbid mental health conditions
  • Experience as CNA's
  • Experience as Emergency Medical Technicians
  • Experience as other healthcare personnel
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • CPR, First Aid, and CPI certified (hands-on course)
  • Current certification maintained throughout employment
  • Successful completion and receipt of acceptable results of the applicable post-offer physical examination
  • Acceptable results of the 2-step PPD test for tuberculosis
  • Acceptable criminal background clearances
  • Excluded party sanctions
  • Degree or license verification
  • Valid driver's license
  • Motor vehicle clearance
  • Proof of auto insurance
  • Current Washington Agency Affiliated Counselor certification
  • Current Washington State credential appropriate to this position issued through the Washington Department of Health (WADOH)
  • Minimum Credential Requirement – Agency Affiliated Counselor (AAC)
  • Minimum Credential Requirement – Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
  • Pass assault crisis/crisis prevention training
  • Knowledge of basic psychiatric rehabilitation interventions
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to use problem-solving techniques
  • Ability to interview members served to determine client needs
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing 50 pounds or less
