Recovery Peer Specialist

Job Summary
Facilitate weekly peer support groups focusing on mental health recovery and wellness while providing one-on-one support to NERLC community members. Share personal recovery stories to build trusting relationships and regularly contribute to expanding the organization's information and referral database. Assist in growing programming on recovery and resiliency, provide up-to-date contact information for service seekers, and document all requests and referrals. Locate new provider sites and contacts to better meet community needs and assist in monthly data collection and reporting. Maintain confidentiality and model professional ethics while working as an effective team member in a collaborative manner.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a peer with lived experience of mental health conditions, substance use disorders, or traumatic histories
- Must have completed, or be willing to complete group facilitation training within the first 12 months of employment
- Sensitivity to and understanding of all types of oppression, particularly the issues faced by those in recovery of mental health conditions, substance use disorders, or traumatic histories
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Access to reliable transportation
- Ability to travel independently
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience facilitating peer groups preferred
- Bi-lingual/bi-cultural candidates are highly desirable
- Experience working with Criminal Justice sector preferred
